Floating

Where walls have come back to bare masonry, a skim on its own won’t do it. We float out with a backing coat first, hardwall or bonding depending on the background, then rule it flat, square the corners, and set over the top once it has picked up.

That is how you get a wall that still reads flat when the light comes across it. It takes longer than a skim, and on a stripped-back room it is the right way to do it.
